Hardriders course record for Jack
Four-seconds were taken off the Banbury Star Hardriders course record this morning by Clinterval coached rider Jack O’Neill (Jewson MI Racing). After a threat of postponement due to standing water, the rain held off but blustery conditions prevailed on the 23-mile out-and-back course from Wroxton to Ettington.
The rolling course was plagued by its typical crosswind, with the biggest challenge being the ascent of Sunrising Hill at the 20-mile mark. Jack’s climbing prowess would net him 40s just on this climb alone, to win by a stunning 2mins 11s overall. His time of 51:38 cut four-seconds off the course record set in much calmer conditions in 2016 by Dan Bigham.
Jen Doyle (RLSCC) performed a ride in near identical consistency to Jack, both riders listening well to pacing advice for the course provided by Clinterval Coaching. As one of Jen’s first sporting-course TT events, she posted a very credible time of 1:08:03, placing her just inside the top 40 riders on the day.
