After an absence of several years, Dover’s Hill near Chipping Campden would be back on the hill climb scene, this time promoted by Stratford CC. Despite a torrentially wet start to the morning, Clinterval Coaching would have three riders in attendance.
Jen Doyle (RLSCC), on the Clinterval Hill Climb plan would clock a time of 7:10.0 – a massive 30s faster than her previous best on the climb. Jen would place 5th in the female category.
Jack O’Neill (B38/Underpin Racing) did a fantastic ride to finish 3rd in 4:02.1, pacing the climb superbly, showing he’s got plently left in the tank as his form builds for the National Hill Climb in two weeks time.
Just under 5s in front of Jack, Matt Clinton (Mike Vaughan Cycles) would be only one of two riders to go under sub-4minutes with a time of 3:57.2.
In-form National Champion, Richard Bussell would clock the fastest time of the day, some 9.5s ahead in 3:47.7 – exactly the same time as Matt in the 2010 National Championships on this climb.
Next weekend sees all three of our Clinterval riders test themselves in Matlock, just one week before the Championship event.
